TRAVEL WRITER, STRATEGIST, AND PHOTOGRAPHER
I’m a Washington, D.C.-based editor, writer, and content strategist with over 10 years of experience in travel media.
By day, I do content strategy for Marriott Bonvoy Traveler, the editorial voice of Marriott Bonvoy. We tell stories that inspire good travel across the travel program’s 30+ brands and 7,000+ hotels and resorts. I also freelance as a travel writer, editor, and photographer, and recently published my first book.
MY TRAVEL BACKGROUND
I was born with the travel bug. My grandfather, a WWII vet, led other veterans on tours of Pacific battle sites. My dad got me hooked at a young age on hotel goodies and international flags from his business trips, and I’ve lived in six states plus Toronto, Sydney, and Washington, D.C. I love cities, but my favorite trips allow me to get outside and photograph landscapes and nature.
Freelance writing
I also freelance as a travel writer, editor, and photographer, and have contributed to Conde Nast Traveler, U.S. News Travel, Fodor’s Travel, BrandUSA, Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, Google, and more. My first book, Easy Weekend Getaways from Washington DC, was published in Fall 2019.
Editorial & Content Strategy
My career includes in-house roles as a staff editor at Fodor’s Travel, AOL Travel, MapQuest and a start-up travel website, Travora.com. I also worked as creative & copy director at an email marketing agency with a focus on travel content marketing, and I built and led a content operations team to launch a series of new websites for Marriott.
Photography
My photography has appeared in ISLANDS Magazine, Travel + Leisure’s website and newsletters, Fodor’s, AOL Travel, Gadling, 10best.com, and Hawaiimagazine.com.
